LOIS & CAREY

Exhibited at Saatchi Gallery, Women in Art Gallery, Cicek Gallery, and selected as a winner at the Lens Culture Critics' Choice Award, The Eve Arnold Phtotography Prize, and more.

"Lois & Carey" is a photographic series that explores the intimate, intergenerational relationship between Lois and Carey, a daughter and her mother, both Jewish artists living in London.

Set entirely within the walls of their home, the project is a nuanced portrait of familial closeness, personal expression, and the unspoken tensions that shape lifelong bonds.

In capturing the microcosm of one family, it speaks to broader truths about womanhood, queerness, aging, and the quiet revolutions that happen within the home.

At its core, the work is about the complex dance between mothers and daughters - how identity is inherited, resisted, and reinvented.

The tension between queerness and family legacy is treated not as conflict, but as coexistence - messy, honest, and real.

We invite you to feel rather than to analyze, to absorb the texture of a relationship - rather than define it.

About the project

"Us" was Inspired by our personal relationship, which blossomed during the Covid-19 lockdown, but also out of a struggle with feeling stuck and uninspired with our personal work at the time.

For over two years we photographed couples in their homes, mostly around Israel but also in the UK and Europe.
Our aim is to represent couples that are often overlooked by mainstream media, by making the invisible - visible.

For us, the most special thing about this project is the experience of witnessing love, intimacy, and acceptance between the couples, which is beyond social norms, gender, body image, disabilities, age, culture, etc.

Each time we left a couples’ house after a shoot, we felt very lucky, inspired, and mostly thankful for the chance to witness and commemorate all of that through our photography.

You are invited to the lives and homes of 28 couples, depicting different settings and lifestyles.
